Healthy Boiled Popcorn
Here’s a great recipe along with a video for making healthy popcorn.
Popcorn by itself is a very healthy snack for several reasons:
- Provides a fulfilling ‘crunch’ to help pressures appetite.
- It contains very few calories.
- Contains fiber, which is good for digestion.
- It helps make tryptophan which helps with sleep better.
However, be aware that if you add processed butter and/or salt, it ruins the whole concept of a ‘healthy snack’.
For a healthy pop corn snack, make sure you purchase plain pop-corn kernels that are organic. The reason for this, is that most corn is now grown with a lot of pesticides.
Ingredients are:
- Plain popcorn
- Lime Juice
- Garlic Power
- Coconut Oil
- Microwave Popcorn Maker (made by Ecolution)
Step 1: Measure out a container of 2 tablespoons of popcorn and add one tablespoon of lime juice into the popcorn. Then stir it up.
Step 3: Empty mixed contents into popcorn maker and add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil onto lid of the popcorn maker.
Step 4: Put popcorn maker into microwave, and microwave for 2 minutes. Timing may be different for your microwave. Of course, timing may be different depending on the power of your microwave
A good rule for timing: After the kernels start popping in the microwave, If you don’t here any kernels pop within a 3 second time period, then the popcorn should be ready.
Step 5: Empty popcorn into bowl and shake in garlic powder.
